Cleveland Police Foundation Hosts Signature “Tribute to the Blue” Celebration at the Hofbrauhaus

The Hofbrauhaus Cleveland was filled with excitement on Thursday, September 28, 2017 when the Cleveland Police Foundation (CPF) hosted a memorable evening in which some of our community’s finest members were recognized for their civic contributions. Honorary chairs included Cleveland Police Chief Calvin D. Williams, Chief Edward P. Kovacic (Retired), and Ohio State Representative Thomas F. Patton. Mike and Sharon Hargrove acted as celebrity emcees and auctioneers, with proceeds from the evening benefiting CPF programs.

After a moving opening ceremony and traditional German buffet dinner, CPF annual awards were presented to the following recipients for their excellence in community service:

Mr. James F. Doyle – Man of the Year

Sergeant Mitchell Sheehan – Officer of the Year

Cops, Kids and Christmas Program – Community Service Award

2017 Police Officers of the Month

Sergeant Charles W. (Chas) Lane, Jr. (Retired) – CPF Founders Award

As the Cleveland Police Foundation’s marketing agency of record, Linear Creative helped orchestrate the event, assisting with everything from securing the venue – to handling all of the press coverage, invitations, promotional materials, framed awards, program books, and event photography – as well as running the live and silent auctions and a raffle.

“Our Tribute to the Blue event was really a special evening,” said CPF Executive Director Charles Lane, Jr. “Too often the selfless acts of our police officers and community members go unnoticed, so it was rewarding to honor them and to say ‘Thank You’ for making our city a better place to live in. It was also a great opportunity for us to raise money for our umbrella of police charities to help support their missions,” Lane added.

The mission of the Cleveland Police Foundation is to strengthen the bond between the Cleveland Division of Police and the citizens it serves by providing funds for youth and community outreach services, community engagement initiatives, police charities, investment in advanced education and training, and funding for specialized equipment and technology in order to help Cleveland’s better perform their duties.
